Yes I agree,When people are shopping for a door lock, there are so many options it can be very overwhelming to choose the one that’s right for you.

  2. Thanks for the info on sliding glass doors…much appreciated.

  3. I had absolutely no idea there were so many options for locks on glass doors. I always figured sliding glass doors just had the simple lock that came with them, which for me has always been the same. Some of the lock options described in this article make way more sense to me than the standard default lock. While for me I don’t see the need for putting a deadbolt with a key lock on the door it does make perfect sense to have the alarm option in place.

Having the ability to hear a chirp or beep every time the sliding glass door is opened or closed is a great idea! Especially if you have little kids and want to keep track of what they are doing / where they are going in the house. Not only that but if while sleeping the alarm sound could wake you up it would alert you to any foul play taking place in your house. Yes, it would also help to scare off any burglars.

Great writeup on glass door security, again I had no idea there were so many options!

  5. Although security is indeed important in most parts of the world, it should not have to be a reason that one can not enjoy a nice well fitted and secured glass door. There are several ways to obtain the result as you already pointed out. Latches may indeed be easier to work with but, they can be easily tampered with and opened by anyone indeed. That is why I also agree that deadbolts on the other hand are much stronger and a little bit more tamper proof.

Thanks for the great post. I enjoyed reading it.
